Collaborative design - Bilbao

Erriberritu is a space for exchanging objects and resources designed and built by the Global Digital Humanities students of Mondragon Unibertsitatea in collaboration with local creative agents throughout the 2022-2023 academic year.

The intention of this space is to give new life to objects that are no longer used, promote reuse and promote the principles of the circular economy at the neighborhood level, as well as promote connections between citizen initiatives that are on the island. The Erriberritu space is open for anyone to use, under the motto "Leave what you want, take what you need." This temporary urban planning space is part of the La Ribera – Zorrotzaurre pilot of the European T-Factor project. The construction of Erriberritu is the final point of a learning process that took place between October 2022 and July 2023, taught within the curriculum of the Mondragon Unibertsitatea university degree. The training process included learning new methodologies and strategies linked to urban innovation, and an exploration process with neighborhood agents to identify needs and design the new space. The challenge for the students has been to devise possible solutions to local problems such as the lack of resources and the disconnection between projects working in Zorrotzaurre, creating temporary urban planning proposals.
